The film vs digital war still wages, regardless of who’s winning each side still has its stalwarts. Today I met a very old, grumpy man, he asked me as I took photos of his home on my dslr, how I could be happy never having any real photos to take home. I asked him what he meant. He got out his polaroid camera, took a snap of me near the window and gave it to me. “That’s a real photo, there, for you” he said. I tried to explain that my photos were real, I just had a different way of sharing them, even though I can very well see his point of view. What was funny though was later when the discussion was over, I took out my iphone, snapped a shot of my portrait to put on instagram/facebook and he, after a brief explanation of my actions said “well that is clever, it is good your friends will see your picture”…..
Getting the website up and running has been a huge task, so many tiny parts make a whole when starting a website from scratch. All of that is soon to be forgotten though because it’s up and launched and JULIAJANEPHOTOGRAPHY.COM is born!
To celebrate I would like to share a personal project. Recently I was commissioned by Lindsay from Belle Epoque Events to create three images for a fundraising event entitled ‘Back From Black’ to be held Friday 26th October. This week! This event will raise funds for the Black Dog Institute (more info here http://www.blackdoginstitute.org.au/aboutus/overview.cfm). It’s an extremely worthwhile cause and the night should prove a very innovative way of holding a silent auction!
So too the prints! The brief was to show the evolution from illness, to treatment and then a bright future and with the Black Dog Institute’s focus on family and friends, I chose to show how although you may feel alone, small and sad. You never are, there are people to help if you look…
This a place to share what I am seeing. What I am making. For friends, clients, family and all to keep up to date with the wonderful weddings and projects I have coming up. Thanks for viewing!
